The buyer is refunded when:
  • the escrow is cancelled (POST /escrows/{id}/cancel, see Escrow lifecycle);
  • the seller concedes a dispute (POST /disputes/{id}/concede);
  • KetaPay decides a dispute for the buyer, in full or in part.

Where the money goes

Refunds go back the way the money came: to the card, or to the bank account the transfer came from. Card refunds take 5 to 10 working days to show, depending on the buyer’s bank. If that fails (the card has expired or been closed, or the sending account can’t receive money), the refund goes to the buyer’s KetaPay balance instead, and KetaPay asks the buyer to withdraw it to a bank account they confirm with a one-time code. Refunded money is never lost and never goes to anyone but the buyer. Each milestone’s refund shows where its money is.

Fees on refunds

The refunded part carries no seller fee and no commission. KetaPay’s buyer fee and VAT are not refunded once the escrow is funded.
